What is the best (or most simple) software for drawing single line diagrams on power systems?

I have tried several drawing softwares, but my single line diagrams are badly presented yet.

So, I would like to get help to improve my power system draws.

you can try inkscape, its an open source software. I think it will be sufficient for single line diagrams. you can download it from following website.

Dear Aluisio Cesar

I agree with my colleagues Mr. Kiran Kumar Challa and Mr.Mohammed Qasim Taha inkscape and PSCAD are very useful programs.. I use them in my works..

Best regards

Thanks a lot,

Mr. Kiran, Mr. Mohammed and Mr. Omar for your contribution.

I am going to try the Inkscape and PSCAD.

Aluisio,

What level of power system (the major part of it, I mean) are you talking about ? Generation, transmission, or distribution ?

Hi, Sanjoy.

My focus is Transmission planning.

Thank you, Mustafa Yilmaz.

I am using Inkscape at the moment because it is free, however, it is a general drawing software (open source) similar to Corel Draw ,i.e, based on vector drawing.

One easy and have most component built in is Visio from microsoft (not free).

Hello Aluisio.

For me is EPLAN (www.eplan.com.br). It is a robust and covers industrial or more simple needs. You have a lot of videos learning how to get the software and how to use it.

Have a nice day!!

Flávio Cruz.

Hello, Flavio.

Thanks a lot. I am going to test EPLAN also.

Best regards.

I'm used to use the Microsoft Visio. However, recently, I have tried the draw.io software and it seems to be good enough to me. You can download it from https://www.draw.io.

Hello, Varrichio!

Thanks a lot.

I am going to try also the draw.io.

DIgSILENT PowerFactory is a good network modelling software with very good SLD capability. I used it to draw sub-transmision a(110kV, 33kV & 22kV) as well as distribution (11kV) network SLD.

You can readily trace over existing diagrams. That makes your network model look identical to system diagrams used in the organisation.

DIgSILENT Powerfactory is a commercial network modelling software package. Following is from their website:

PowerFactory is a leading power system analysis software application for use in analysing generation, transmission, distribution and industrial systems.

Dear Aluisio

It is recommended to try using VISIO program

Regards

I use Microsoft Visio and it works fine for me every time.

You can use Microsoft visio, ProfiCAD, Edraw, SmartDraw and Solidworks

Hi Aluisio

I use microsoft visio for this kind of presentations

I recommend Microsoft Visio.

I used to use the ETAP (by the OTI) for drawing single-line diagrams. In addition, the drawing may be used in a later stage for simulating the system after properly adding its parameters, and settings.

I have used Microsoft Visio frequently. However, I have tried the draw.io desktop software, and online version also. It is seems to be good and download it from https://www.draw.io.

Recently, I found some apps of the google store that facilitate easy-to-use drawing tools of electric circuits. Some of them even can draw 3D diagrams.

Microsoft Visio is a good one.

AutoCAD, Bentley Microstation, AVEVA Electrical are some most widely used software for drawing Single Line Diagrams. These software's are drafting software i.e you just use them to draw Single Line Diagrams.

ETAP is used for power system analysis and deciding the type of connections to be made in the network and  equipment ratings to be shown on the SLD.A rough draft of the SLD gets its completeness after the ETAP results are implemented on it.

Dear Sir

you can use ETAP. in addition you can use AUTO CAD software in order to show your Single line diagrams.

Though, beginners feel difficult to use the MS Word for drawing diagrams, the clarity of the pictures after taking screen shot of zoomed version is very good. Hence, I advise that you can try it once.

Microsoft Visio software is used to connect any kind of line and connection. It can be made in any type of diagrams, such as mechanical, electrical, civil structure and management.

Microsoft Visio. I am using the software since last 5 years. It has a vast library which includes the symbols for many electrical and electronics components. On the other hand it can also be used to draw flowcharts and many more. This software is easy to learn and pretty much user friendly.

I also make use of Microsoft Visio. It is very simple to use. You can create your own stencil for frequently used items. It incorporates well into other reports if Microsoft packages are used (reports, presentations, etc.). The drawings can be exported in other formats for publishing.

Any free tool for schematic drawing of solar PV devices?

Whenever researchers plot a graph for academic, research publication or hypothesis testing, a quality graph will always result a long-lasting impression and can make a huge difference in the impact it has on the viewers.

For drawing graphs in high resolution like 300/600/more dpi image, tiff/jpg etc format picture, we have OriginPro, KaleidaGraph, Grapher etc. Besides, Paint, MS Office Word, Ms Excel, MS Visio, OpenOffice Draw, AutoCAD, LibreCAD, skelion etc are widely used for the said purposes, and for drawing schematic diagrams as well. For instance,

I) Microsoft Visio software is for drawing a variety of diagrams including flowcharts, org charts, building plans, floor plans, data flow diagrams, process flow diagrams, business process modeling, swimlane diagrams, 3D maps, and many more.

II) Skelion is a Sketchup's plugin to insert solar photovoltaics and thermal components in a surface.

But,

Some of them are freely available whereas most of them are not, rather premium based. Again, some cannot be customised. In fact, we don't have colors that we we actually need.

For my works, I'd like to be able to include wires/metals/layers with their corresponding colors, sun, battereis, loads, inverters, textured ARC layer structure etc.

I would be grateful if anyone suggest me wheter there is any good free software available online to lay out a schematic diagram, specifically 3D image for solar PV cells and devices.
